Background on Community leaders’ forum (CLF)
Community Leaders’ Forum was formed in 2003 to:
a Provide a platform for the Malay/Muslim Voluntary Sector (MMVS) to work together to collectively address the pertinent issues affecting the community;
b Foster community engagement by providing avenues for dialogue and knowledge exchange centering on the issues of evaluating programmes and building resources; and
c Enhance the capacity of the MMVS to facilitate intervention efforts so that they remain effective and relevant.
To-date, there are 36 CLF Partners, that comprises of community leaders and activists, who come together to discuss strategies that would enable Malay/Muslim community to achieve its shared vision of excellence. Malay Members of Parliament play a role as Advisors to the sectoral networks of Education, Youth, Family and Employability. Yayasan MENDAKI acts as the Secretariat to the CLF.
The CLF Steering Committee was formed in 2004 to provide a coordinated framework to facilitate the collaborative efforts across the four sectoral networks. The Committee is chaired by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Minister-In-Charge of Muslim Affairs who would provide guidance and overall direction for the networks in implementing various CLF programmes.
